I am a firm believer in soul mates. But not just the romantic kind. Especially the non romantic kind, actually. Seriously I have so much room in my heart for my friends.
Mich (pronounced MEEEEsh…elle) and I went to college together for one scholastic year. Sitting on her dorm room floor, talking about boys, crappy girls, great girls, running, essays, painting, sunflowers, Italy… those are some of my most vivid memories from freshman year. Possibly because they were some of my only sober memories, but still.
You know how there are those people who drain you and leave you exhausted? Well from the beginning, Mich was one of those people who filled my heart up. I always left her company feeling inspired and full.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that we have all deleted our college photos from Facebook. Here’s an awkward, albeit appropriate, fully clothed one, though. Enjoy. I made it really tiny on purpose.
Oh and this one. #Cute.
And this one from a Tswift concert.
Despite Mich moving back to Coarsegold, and then Slo, and then ultimately Utah, we’ve stayed friends. I tend to visit her more than I visit my friends in Orange County who are only an hour away.
I’m convinced it’s the universe’s doing.
Minor flashback. Note.. how often I change my hair. Light. Dark. Short. Long. Natural. And Michelle’s always stays the same. I feel like that might be a metaphor for our lives? It would explain the fact that she has a home, a husband, a kid. And I still pass out on my floor every now and again.
Soulmates, obviously.
And then she met this soulmate:
But also as her family grows, so does my love for her little family.
I feel very blessed that the universe allows me Michelle AND her fam. And then this past month, Mich, her hunny Bent, and their babe Azure, were up in San Fran with her momma. They asked me to plan my month accordingly so I could join them. It was closer and an easier drive than LA to Utah. I was honored to make the trek and impede on their family plans.
I was even invited to join a family dinner, and attend their church.
So grateful for these friends of mine. Grateful for Bent and his leadership and wisdom. Grateful for Michelle and her creativity and patience. And for all three of their unconditional love.
When I leave them I’m always shocked at how I never feel sad. Just full. Content.
Happy second birthday to their sweet Azure. My long distance sweet pea.
