Expanding My Mind… Via Tumblr

If you, Dear Reader, are anything like the guests at my hotel, you can probably tell I’m a California native.

Born and raised in the tiny bubble of Orange County. Then I went to college on the border of Orange and LA County — which is when I learned that OC extended all the way to Seal Beach and did not, in fact, end with Irvine!
After graduation I spent most of my time in between Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, before becoming so utterly dead with boredom that I realized there was no other choice but to make the move to LA with my then-Hunny.

Despite all the traveling that I’ve been lucky enough to do, my world is the size of a pin head.

Ironically, it’s Tumblr.com that’s opened my eyes and reminded me of all the world holds. It’s Tumblr’s photos that add to my bucket list. It’s tumblr that makes me realize there is so much to see in my own city that I’m missing out on. And it’s Tumblr that’s helped me get over my relationship; because every time I feel a little sad that I don’t have someone holding me each night, I see a picture of the type of relationship I want and I know I’m doing the right thing.

My world is so small, it would be easy to think this is the only happiness there is for me. But I know that’s not true. And scrolling through Tumblr, as silly as it is, it makes me acutely aware of how much more there is.
